

School buses don’t need seatbelts because it’s actually safer to not have them. Aside from the fact that grubby little punks on school buses are likely to misuse seatbelts and cause more harm to themselves and others, seatbelts are generally unsafe for small children. That’s why there are laws that small children must sit in special car seats to strap them in. Also, the seats on school buses use compartmentalization to make seatbelts unnecessary. It’s why the seats are so close to each other and there is so little leg room on school buses. It’s also why there is so much padding on the seat backs. As a bonus, a school bus is so bulky and high off the ground, kids are actually about ten time safer in a collision than if they were seatbelted into a regular car.
